Can you add recessed lighting without cutting open my entire ceiling?
In most cases, yes. We use remodel-can fixtures specifically designed for existing ceilings. Each light requires one small hole — no drywall demolition, no repainting the entire ceiling.
Do you install smart lighting?
Yes. We wire smart switches and smart dimmer circuits compatible with Lutron Caseta, Leviton Decora, and other major smart home systems. If you’re building out a smart home setup, we can discuss the wiring approach that gives you the most flexibility.
How many recessed lights do I need per room?
It depends on ceiling height, room size, and what you’re lighting for — general ambiance versus task lighting are different calculations. A common starting point is one light per 25–35 square feet of ceiling area. We work this out during your free estimate so you’re not guessing.
Can you install lighting on a circuit that’s already full?
If your existing circuit is at capacity, we’ll tell you upfront. In some cases we can redistribute the load. In others, a new circuit from the panel is the right answer. Either way, you’ll know the full picture before we start.
Do you pull permits for lighting work?
New circuits and significant electrical additions typically require a permit in New Hampshire. Simple fixture replacements on existing circuits generally don’t. When a permit is required, we handle the process — you don’t need to manage that yourself.
What’s the difference between a remodel can and a new construction recessed light?
New construction cans are installed before drywall goes up and attach to ceiling joists. Remodel cans (also called retrofit cans) clip into an existing ceiling hole and are designed for finished spaces. For most lighting upgrades in existing homes, remodel cans are the right product, and what we use.
